King’s College, in the Molewski Room, (SFCC 109),
For a webinar by Gloria Francesca Mengual, Program Director, Everyday Democracy.”
Gloria will presented a short program regarding the scope for the Community Spirit initiative now under way.
This, a dialogue initiative for a vibrant community —
Community Spirit, a sub-committee of The Luzerne County Diversity Commission.
We are now engaged in our dialogue-to-change program, which is based around a form pioneered by Everyday Democracy (formerly the Study Circles Resource Center).
We use the study circles model of community dialogue, in which people of various opinions come together to discuss their views.
We find this leads to trust and understanding, and to an effort to find ways to work together to bring about justice and harmony, eliminating racism and increasing cooperation and respect.
Community Spirit will be the steering group for this dialogue project, with the support of the Misericordia University Diversity Institute, and The Father James Doyle, CSC, Community Mediation Institute.
Please also share this message with your friends, colleagues, and anyone who may be interested in joining us.
We sincerely thank you for your support and welcome your questions,

If you are agreeable to the following proposal, please provide a letter of support to Rod Gereda, event Facilitator, at peacewb@verizon.net.
All inquiries may be directed to Rod as well.
Dear Friends:
Historically, Luzerne County has increased in size, importance, and strength by repeated arrivals of people from a variety of backgrounds. This history brings to mind a topic in need of open dialogue: current issues regarding social integration and community building.
We are asking for a letter of support for our dialogue-to-change program, which is based around a form pioneered by Everyday Democracy (formerly the Study Circles Resource Center). We use the study circles model of community dialogue, in which people of various opinions come together to discuss their views. We find this leads to trust and understanding, and to an effort to find ways to work together to bring about justice and harmony, eliminating hatred and increasing cooperation and respect.
Community Spirit will be the steering group for this dialogue project, with the support of the Misericordia University Diversity Institute, The Interfaith Resource Center for Peace and Justice, and The Father James Doyle, CSC, Community Mediation Institute. We also rely on the support of the community-at-large: high school students, local university and college officials, faculty, commissioners from the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs, various officials of faith based groups, Mrs. Susan Shoval, president of Guard Insurance, and Arthur Breese (co-chairs of the The Luzerne County Diversity Commission).
Join our effort and go beyond writing a letter of support!
